Interesting Facts About Jupiter, FL

Another beautiful day in sunny Jupiter, Florida, but what to do? Conveniently located near Florida’s Gold Coast, Jupiter is a host of hidden gems; you just need to know where to look.

Here are some fun facts about Jupiter that help make this coastal community a great place to live.

Lighting the way home

Did you know that on the north bank of the Loxahatchee River is Lighthouse Park, home to the city’s most notable landmark, the Jupiter Gateway Lighthouse? This historic site has been a staple of Jupiter since the late 1800s, when the land was occupied by its settlers.

The lighthouse has a history that begins during the Civil War, when the cove was used to bring supplies to the Confederacy. Today, a trip to the lighthouse is a great way to immerse yourself in a bit of Jupiter’s local history while soaking up the sun. The best place to see the lighthouse is in DuBois Park, which is on the other side of Jupiter Sound, where fishing is allowed, so bring your gear and prepare your apartment for a nice home cooked meal.

Batter Up!

Did you know that Jupiter is a home away from home for the Florida Marlins and St. Louis Cardinals Major League Baseball teams? Both teams have their spring training facilities on Jupiter and exhibition games are often open to the public so you can get a sneak peek at the season ahead. Also based in Jupiter are minor league baseball affiliates, the Jupiter Hammerheads and the Palm Beach Cardinals. Minor league games are a great outing for the whole family and a great way to support your local community, so pack your car and don’t forget your sunscreen.

For dogs

Did you know that Jupiter is home to one of the only dog-friendly beaches in the state of Florida? You don’t need to leave your best friend at your apartment while you enjoy the sun! Dogs are allowed on unsupervised beaches from Jupiter to Juno Beach, but be sure to adhere to the rules including: keeping your pet on a leash or on voice command at all times, cleaning up after your dog, making sure to use the Special dog kiosks that provide plastic bags for your convenience and always keep an eye on your dog to make sure they don’t get in the way of other beach guests.

Jupiter is a great place to spend a day enjoying the Atlantic, whether it’s to learn a bit of history, catch the catch of the day, or just take a dip in the crystal clear waters – it just depends on what you feel like!
