Is Trump trying to run the clock?: 5 examples

Although trying to time out is a somewhat commonly used tactic by many advocates, former President Donald J. Trump seems to have brought this down to an art form. Before he was president, he often used a litigious strategy, in which he would ostensibly sue others to determine them, to go after him, etc. However, whether related to legal action, against him and/or his business, or based on actions he took, as the leader of the Free World, he seems to continue, relying on this strategy! With that in mind, this article will attempt to briefly consider, examine, review and discuss 5 examples of this, and why the rest of us should care about the possible implications and ramifications.

1. Lawsuits against him and his businesses, in New York: Both the State Attorney General, as well as the New York County District Attorney, have ongoing investigations against the former president. The state’s case is a civil action, while the county is conducting a criminal investigation! He has stated that he should be immune, due to executive privilege, and claimed that these cases are merely political on the part of his enemies. When any claim is dismissed by a Court, it either appeals or institutes another! In an apparent attempt to deter, or at least delay, AG James’s case, he is suing her for discrimination, bias, etc., against him! If he is allowed to get away with it, the risk is that he will have anyone high-profile prosecuted in the future. In his mind, his opinions, agenda and self-interest are facts, and anything else is false fact!

2. Congressional hearings/ impasse: Claiming Executive Privilege, he is informing his former aides, not to testify! Many have followed his instructions, either by refusing to respond, subpoenas, and/or claiming the Fifth Amendment! If Congress can’t do this, what about the balance of power and congressional oversight, etc.?

3. Lawsuits/Civil Actions: When, accused and sued, he used his political office to justify, delay and/or refuse to cooperate! Even though the above was, otherwise, when President Clinton was sued and indicted, and forced to testify, Trump still believes that he is above the law!

4. Political pressure: Trump is a master at applying political pressure, when it suits his purposes and objectives! Who can forget his Republican allies in the Senate who claimed, impeachment, didn’t count, because he was out of office, albeit supporting his continued claims of voter fraud (without evidence)? Every time someone questions and/or opposes him, he tries to put sheer, extreme pressure on them, because it seems to a large extent that the Republican Party has morphed into the Trump Party!

5. Executive privilege/power/overreach: While there is a need for Executive Privilege, it should be used for matters of national security, etc., and not for personal privilege, etc. Their overreach has extreme and potential ramifications far into the future, if we don’t address them now.

Wake up America, and remember your elected officials, no one is above the law! Will you become a more responsible voter?
