Summer holidays in Croatia

The area known as Croatia was inevitably inhabited during the prehistoric period. This is known to be true due to found Neanderthal fossils dating back to the Paleolithic. In addition, more remains of Chalcolithic and Neolithic cultures were unearthed throughout the country. The most impressive of these remains can be found today in the Krapina area.

Croatia later found itself hosting Greek and Roman settlers. The emperor known as Diocletian actually had a fairly large castle built in the city of Split, from where he finally retired in 305 AD. During the 5th century, Julius Nepos ruled his area from this castle after his escape from Italy. Unfortunately, he was killed just a year later.

Today, Croatia stands as a pretty impressive summer vacation spot, and it’s a country that should definitely be on your bucket list when it comes to places you want to visit. As tensions arose in the country of Croatia due to political issues, they finally declared their independence on June 25, 1991. On July 1, 2013, Croatia was indoctrinated into the EU!

Dalmatia and a natural paradise

Dalmatia is another of the four historical regions located in Croatia. The others include Croatia proper, Slavonia, and Istria. Dalmatia is located along a narrow belt that lies on the eastern shore of the Adriatic Sea. It covers from the island of Rab to the Bay of Kotor located in the south. Dalmatia gets its name from an ancient Illyrian tribe known as the Dalmatians who once resided there.

Once you arrive in Dalmatia, I think you’ll be pleasantly surprised at all there is to see and do. For example, the mountain known as Dinara is a mountain that sits right on the border of Herzegovina, Bosnia, and Croatia. There are two main peaks found here: Dinara and Troglav. Dinara happens to be the highest peak in all of Croatia, and oddly enough, it’s shaped like a human head! This is the perfect area to swim, climb or walk depending on your preferences.

Next, we have the charming Punta Rata, which is one of the most beautiful protected stone beaches in the world. If you enjoy nature, then you need look no further for natural beauty. In addition to the beautiful beach, Punta Rata is more surrounded by a beautiful paradise of pine trees. According to Forbes, this is among the ten most beautiful beaches in the world.
