The secret to getting a boxer body

If you are training to be a professional boxer, an amateur boxer, or even a fight, one thing you will definitely want is a “boxer body.” What do I mean by a boxer’s body? It is very simple. Look at the greats of the boxing world like Muhammad Ali. Wide shoulders, back, chest and triceps built.

And what do all boxers have in common? They train hard with the punching bags. A punching bag is the boxer’s number one tool. So how does this contribute to getting a boxer body? Well, let’s define a boxer’s body.

In general, I would define a boxer’s body as very firm. This is the key to having the body of a boxer and all professional boxers have it. Just go see a boxer at the gym next time and punch him in the arm or chest! Whether you have a muscular build or not, you’ll feel like you’ve just hit a wall or a 250-pound heavy bag. If you look at the fighters in the boxing world, you will notice a couple of things.

1) Not all of them are huge in terms of muscle mass.

2) The muscles of many boxers are not very defined.

It is a common misconception that boxers are supposed to have, or have, bodies like those of weightlifters. This is not the case. Remember that muscle mass is not synonymous with strength. Proof of this are the MMA / CFU cages.

We have all seen very muscular fighters being completely possessed by fighters who have very little muscle mass. A great example of this was the Lyoto Machida vs. Evans fights at UFC 98.

Therefore, a boxer’s body is equivalent to a body with a lot of inner strength. An exercise that helps to gain inner strength, that is, strength of the tissues, organs and ligaments, are the Hindu push-ups. Another exercise is to catch and throw a punching bag dummy. These help build inner strength and not necessarily huge muscles.

So the secret to developing the body of a real boxer is to train like them. Do exercises that contribute to your inner strength. Meditate, train hard with the punching bags and don’t give up. If you want to assert yourself, use the punching bag to train in rounds. Move around to build stamina as well. To really firm your muscles, you will need to do a lot of cardio and inner strength training.
