V for Vendetta, a totalitarian theme

V for Vendetta is set in London with the plot that dictates the near future, around 2038 with Great Britain ruled by a totalitarian regime. It is a story about the fictional V, a freedom fighter who seeks to change the socio-political landscape while simultaneously fighting a battle for his own personal revenge. The movie, as most of you will know, is an adaptation of a graphic novel written by Alan Moore and David Lloyd. V for Vendetta. Tea The film is directed by James Mc Teigue and produced by Joel Silver and the Watchowski brothers.

The director says: “We felt the novel was very prescient about what the political climate is like right now. It really showed what can happen when society is governed by the government, rather than the government being run as a voice of the people. I don’t think it’s a big leap to say that things like this can happen when leaders stop listening to people.. “

The author, Alan Moore, as usual, disassociates himself from the film as he does with other film adaptations of his work. The film differs in certain respects from the book, for example anarchist themes, drug sequences, and negative Christian imagery. The political message conveyed by the film has also been modified a bit to suit modern times. Unsurprisingly, the film received both critical appraisal and harsh criticism from both sides of the political spectrum, as it contains politically sensitive content. If you haven’t seen the movie yet, let us tell you that it deserves all the praise.
