How long should articles be online?

There has always been quite a bit of dialogue, speech, debate and discussion about the proper length of an online article. It turns out that almost everyone has an opinion on this; Article authors and Internet article marketers alike. Well, over the years I have written quite a few articles and yes, I have an opinion on it too. Let me give you my perspective, because someone the other day asked me about this.

You see, a new online article writer, and I assume a soon-to-be online article marketer, wanted my opinion on this topic and asked me; What is the best length of an online article, “is less more”? he asked?

Okay, it’s actually my opinion that articles shouldn’t be much longer than 300-500 words because the average person on the internet won’t read more than that, most people scan online anyway, they’re not actually reading , they are not too busy clicking. If you are writing very technical articles then they should be less than 1000 words, not less than 400-500. Lately, I’ve been keeping all my articles above 400 words, with the occasional article 800-1000 words.

There was a famous author who once said something to the effect that his articles should be as concise as possible, but no more and no less, if that makes sense. There are many people who believe that it is simply not feasible for someone to write an article of less than 200 words and say something that is truly meaningful to the reader. That is absolutely false, although it is true that most article authors will not be able to either, it takes time to hone your skills in that regard, that level of talent takes time and practice that you see.

In fact, I can tell you that I can give information in less than 200 words that will be valuable to each and every person who reads it, in the niche or category of that particular hypothetical article. In fact, if you are good at your industry, you could probably say something in a paragraph that is valuable to the reader and helps increase your profit, income, or lower your costs in business, for example.

Before I retired I was in the franchise industry and learned quite a few things the hard way, I could easily give someone a paragraph that would help you earn or save tens of thousands of dollars on your business model. Look at that point, and let’s say the paragraph was 150 words long, and it had a two-sentence introduction, with a two-sentence summary conclusion. Do you see about 200 words?

How long does it really take to write an article to explain a concept or give an idea?

I want you to think about this, the next time you want to criticize people on Twitter. There are many famous quotes that we say in our everyday language, they are nothing more than phrases, but they convey a thought, a concept, an ideal or simply an idea, and we consider that wisdom to be remarkable, credible, relevant. and valuable.

Now there are many article directory sites online that have rules for how many words they want you to put in the article. If you are going to do online article marketing or online article creation, you obviously have to follow the rules. Just like if you were submitting an article to a trade magazine and they wanted you to have as many words as possible, you need to follow the guidelines.

Maybe that’s why people like blogging, they can put a blog post and links or any number of words they choose. They can write a sentence, they can write “I am” and call that a sentence, and that would be the end of their blog post. The most important thing for the author of an article to remember is to provide important and valuable information to the reader, something they can use, something they need, and decent advice.

“I write articles to get people to think, and it doesn’t take much, think about it!”

Do you see my point? That phrase makes you think and conveys a thought. Now I could go on and on over that 400-500 word sentence, but you got the point, in fact, you’re still thinking about it as I finish this much longer article. How many times did I make you think of this 850+ word article? I hope a lot.

So, above all, what is paramount for the length of your article is that whatever they put in the title of the article, it is important that it complies with that title and provides the information that is now expected of the reader based on the title they clicked on to access that article. Anything less will anger the reader, and if you want to find a potential customer, you’ve already lost it. Say what you need to say, convey what you need to convey, and the article will be at the appropriate length by the end of the day.

Consider all of this and think about it.
